dun,dunn model

The 21 elements are grouped across five "stimuli". That includes environmental, emotional, sociological, physiological, and psychological (cognitive processing) preferences

The model incorporates certain premises:-

1.Everyone has strengths, but different people have different strengths.
2.Most individuals can learn.
3.Instructional environments, resources, and approaches respond to diversified strengths.
4.Individual instructional preferences exist and can be measured reliably.
5.Given responsive environments, students attain statistically higher achievement and aptitude test scores in matched, rather than mismatched treatments.
6.Most teachers can learn to use learning styles as a cornerstone of their instruction.
7.Many students can learn to capitalize on their learning style strengths

How to start?

Well....last year..when i attend a course on teaching...we were exposed by this 'learning styles' ideas. To be surprised....i feel very happy n enjoy listening to it.After back to school.....i was pointed to give a talk about the topic.Well....it was a very good opportunity for me to share the ideas and thoughts. The talk last for almost one hour with the help of pics through powerpoint.
I gave them the dunn, dunn idea of learning styles.I also gave them handouts mostly from www.creativelearningcenter.com
The main ideas is to know our student. And to get them to know themself on their habit or style of learning.By knowing their habit...this would help them improves their achievement in education.
There is also a 'pyramid model' of creative learning that shows you the tendency of a human in learning styles. Many people doesnt really know his/her tendency of learning style.
For example....some people likes to learn and study in a cool temperature and some people like to learn in a warm place. That's a simple example i could give you before we make our journey to find out...what is 'Learning Styles' and what is our tendency of it.
See u soon
